By methods old and new,
indelible images are born

Delectable is the word for the high-resolution digital prints by Industry
of Light at Joseph Raj Gallery. The Industry's duo -- William Hundley and
X. Farrar -- treat chemical and digital photography like the most luscious
sort of painting, both on canvas and Somerset Velvet, a radiant white paper.
"Negative" represents another stage in the development of their
hyper-sophisticated style with giclée digital printing.
Drawing with light, they spool and pool colors, meanwhile creating intense
negative spaces with brilliant white bases. Some of their abstractions coalesce
into mellifluous streams, others tangle stringlike, still others are cut to
machined edges. The color gradations are handled with impeccable care.
Given the appeal of the art and its responsive hanging in this office/exhibit
space, this is the first exhibit at the Raj Gallery that I can wholeheartedly
recommend.
"Negative" continues through July 20 at Joseph Raj Gallery, 411
Brazos St., No. 99, 708-0565, www.rajgallery.com.
